Hi, and welcome to my blog,
I am so honored that you are here!
I have to admit something to you, that I am a little embarrassed about.
Oftentimes, I am scared to look at my result, I get a little sad when I see all this money going out and zeros coming in.
My body is filled with fear, looking at my tracking spreadsheet.
I have so much anxiety and fear building up to the moment, but I force myself to look.
Sometimes, I catch myself falling into the trap of waiting for the money instead of letting the money come to me and enjoying the journey. Seeing all the zeros makes it really easy for me to fall into the bad habit of negative self-talk, being really mean to myself: “No results again this month, what are you doing wrong? Why are you such a failure?
Maybe what everyone is saying is right, that I am an idiot for investing in affiliate marketing, that most people fail at making money online, and I should just continue working my 9 to 5 and get a steady paycheck.
And for a moment, I get sucked into this way of thinking….
Thankfully I snapped out of it because I know that although it is true, that most people fail, I am not going to fail, because I am going to keep going until I reach success.
I am so invested in my WHY and my dreams and making my dream life a reality that I am not going to give up no matter what.
I am not going to fall into the trap of listening to all the naysayers.
I shifted my mindset because starting a new business isn’t all rainbows and unicorns it’s hard work, it’s trial and error, and it requires you to spend money to make money.
There are the initial startup costs, and the learning curve, and most people fail because they aren’t patient, and want results immediately, they don’t understand that it takes time to learn the skillsets. They see the zeros as failures.
But this is not failure; it’s learning lessons, and if you stick with it and are consistent, the money will come
MINDSET and PATIENCE are pivotal in this journey!
This journey is all about, learning valuable skill sets. They won’t make you rich quickly but they will make you rich forever!
In order to be successful, you can’t be scared of the zeros and the negatives; you have to create a mindset of appreciation, and gratitude, and look at these zeros and negatives as learning opportunities.
I’ll say it again, Mindset is a key component to success, the way we view things is paramount.
I am sure you have heard negativity breeds negativity; scarcity breads more scarcity.
Not sure if you are as skeptical as me, but even with all my sketpism, I have read enough self-help books to understand that thoughts are powerful, and manifestation is possible.
So, it’s important to check the numbers because they are crucial learning lessons that you will need to use to make changes and grow.
But as always, there is a caveat to this….
Yes, you should check your numbers but don’t be fixated on them, waiting for money to come in.
And, definitely don’t stare at them and start judging yourself.
Dean always tells us not to focus on the money. Follow the proven plan, focus on the process, and the money will come, hear it straight from Dean himself:
Focusing on the money coming in is like watching water boil. It makes no sense to turn the water on and just stand there watching it, it’s not gonna happen quicker just because you are giving it that death stare.
Yes, data checking is a key element of your business and should be a part of your daily routine, but it should be approached with the beginner’s advantage in mind, that you are a beginner just learning, and each success and failure is an opportunity!
Looking at the data helps you gather valuable information that you can analyze to uncover crucial insights, patterns, and trends. Data paves the way for informed decision-making and unparalleled performance gains.
Every morning, I check the performance of my paid traffic ads and follow-up emails and
determine if there are any opportunities to improve performance.
You don’t want to publish an Ad and then never look at it; you want to know how many impressions, what is the click-through rate, and how many leads you are generating; this helps you understand if this is a stud or a dud. Data is key to scaling, and when something isn’t working, you can make tweaks and adjustments.
So, what are you waiting for? It’s time to start tracking your results, analyzing the data, and making informed decisions to optimize your campaigns. By understanding your numbers, you can identify opportunities for improvement and take actionable steps to drive better results. Don’t let valuable insights go to waste. Start harnessing the power of data today and watch your campaigns thrive. Take control of your advertising success!

Alison,
Mindset it everything! You reap what you sow. It is said that any venture is 99.9% mindset and the remainder is the steps need to achieve the result. The more I study mindset (which has become a hobby of mine) the more I understand it’s impact on my life and my business. The mind is like a computer, you can’t get out what you don’t put in.
I also use to focus on the number and not the process. However, after going through some rough times and my wife telling me it going to be ok, I’ve been able to shift my mindset to helping others and sticking to the process. The numbers will come if you stick to the process.
Thanks for sharing this.

Yes (please)
Great blog and I love the way you slip in the video of your mentor talking about not focusing on the money, very nice.
I have shied away from ads, partly because I have no idea what I am doing, and partly because there seem to be so many options, so I admire you having a daily ads strategy that you can monitor,
I love your mindset.
A healthy level of skepticism is necessary in this industry and I love the fact that you remain open minded even while you are skeptical.
Alison, I love that “Focus on the process”! I think sometimes (ok more times than not) we want results, and we want them now. But if we can be patient then results will come. That is going to be my mantra this coming year!
I’m in the very beginning process so I’m not that far along but it’s nice to know what I’m up against. This gives me a more optimism .
Thank you looking forward to more.
Great post Alison,
Yes, send me your tracking sheet.
I like your determination and commitment to make this work. It will because you are willing to do it. Follow the process that generates the results, and your 0 shows how much effort you put in. How many posts, how many emails or calls you’ve made, how well your ad performs. And money is the result of those daily actions.
I do google advertising and I agree with you, you have to check the performance of your ads. Optimise the phrases you are using, remove some negative keywords to pay less for your ad and so on. You won’t have a profitable campaign right from the start.
All the best!
Tom
Hi Tom! Here is a copy of the tracking sheet I use: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13_usJ63IJtI0MW4-jmG-F94sN9QF4D7slrm3ZONyTb4/edit?usp=sharing, please feel free to share it with anyone and everyone who can benefit, and don’t forget to make a copy so it’s your own!
Wow Alison what an awesome post!! I felt like you were writing about me 🙂 I go through this too. It’s a little bit of a rollercoaster ride of emotions working through the numbers. Mindset is key. I often start my day listening to 15-20 min teaching from Earl Nightingale (Winning Attitude and The Strangest Secret) on YouTube. Helps me start the day thinking right. Cheers and look forward to future posts!
Hi Denny, thank you so much. Mindset is key, and it is a constant work in progress, I commend you for doing something that helps you set yourself up for success each morning, listening to someone you find inspirational like Earl Nightingale is a great way to star the day!
Alison, firstly you are not an idiot. You are doing something that most people will never do or even have the guts to do. It will work in time as you learn and grow. People are discouraging, even close family. Just listen, don’t react and carry on. You are doing something that will benefit them all but they don’t know that. I suffered the same in terms of chasing results and money. It doesn’t work, it’s the journey, the learning and following the process that gets the results. It’s a by-product of your behaviour if you like. It will come, keep going. Can’t wait to see what happens. Thanks, Atif
Hi Alison
I fully understand focusing on the numbers, while really important, can be demotivating.
I did a coaching program many years ago where we tracked the numbers and all I ever managed to get was zeros.
I constantly remind myself that I am still learning and developing some great skills.
Therefore my focus should be on the process and ultimately, if I stick at it, the results will take of themselves.
Keep at it and cant wait to hear when your numbers start to change.
Cheers
NEal
Hi Neal, I too, cannot wait when the number’s start to change! Once I get the new platfrom set up and start sending out emails I will keep you posted on the results, hopefully they will be greater than zero (lol)!
Hi, I agree what you mean about mindset. Although I started and built an offline business that’s been running for 25+ years I still believe that my own anxiety and beliefs held it back from being even more even more of a success. Checking numbers until recently has been an issue which I am overcoming.
Steve, that is an amazing accomplishment, running for own business for 25+ years, is to be celebrated!!!! I am sure you have learned many lessons. Mindset is a lifelong journey, each day it can change, For me, it is important to practice mindful meditation and breath-work, to help control and eliminate the negative thoughts that sometimes creep into my mind, leading to anxiety and self limiting beliefs. It’s a lifetime journey, and the best thing we can do is do our best, one day at a time! Checking numbers is an issue I can totally relate to, that I am also trying to overcome, I talk about this a little in my blog post: https://rookietorichesride.com/2023/12/30/948/, check. it out!
