Amazon & TikTok together!?!? Your Path to Earning Commissions on Social Media

This week, I am really excited and have something to share and celebrate…

This week, I have grown to more than 900 followers on TikTok; I am almost at 1K!

But that is not the exciting news…

The exciting news is that I have been accepted into the Amazon Influencers program. 

I kept seeing the application on my TikTok feed. Then I noticed this:

Yup, TikTok and Amazon are working together.

Pretty amazing the opportunities going on right now on TikTok.

Now Amazon can be a little confusing….

There is Amazon Associates, which anyone can become and this is a great tool for affiliate marketers because it allows you to make custom links for any product out there that you can get paid a commission for.

So, have a book you love like this one, which I highly recommend:
I can create an Amazon link using my Amazon Associates account and share that link with those who can benefit and get paid a commission.

Then, there is an Amazon influencer. This is something you need to qualify for. It allows you to create a storefront and recommend products for your brand using one link.

This is an area to share your videos and photos of product reviews and make commissions off your recommendations.

Why am I so excited about this….

Well, once you get to 1k followers on TikTok, you can put a clickable link in your bio.

And guess what my clickable link is going to be…

The Amazon Universe: Influencers vs. Associates

First things first, let’s clear up what it means to be an Amazon Influencer versus an Amazon Associate. You might have heard both terms thrown around, and while they share similarities, they each serve unique roles in the Amazon ecosystem.

As an Amazon Influencer, you’re someone who already has an established following on social media platforms like Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok. Amazon gives you a personalized page to curate and showcase your favorite products to your audience. It’s like having your online store without worrying about inventory or shipping. Neat, right?

On the flip side, the Amazon Associates Program is open to anyone looking to monetize their blog or website. It’s the classic affiliate marketing program – you provide links to Amazon products within your content, and every time someone makes a purchase through your link, you earn a commission. It’s perfect for bloggers or website owners who want to incorporate product recommendations naturally into their content.

Before you go, I wanted to share some lessons I was reminded of this week:

1. Always respond. This is critical. You have to check your emails every day and respond, set alerts so you know when people respond on emails and all your social media, and make sure you engage. This is a relationship you are building. 

I set an alarm that goes off every day and I still missed one. I felt horrible, 3 days, and no response.  They unsubscribed, and I don’t blame them. But It is a lesson learned, I put a lot of time and effort to get leads on my list, and I need to spend more effort on the experience they are having on my list.

2. Send Emails DailyI currently only have a 23 email automated sequence. So emails are high on my priority. I have an idea for a week long email sequence I want to share, but I am trying to make videos for each day and then put those on my YouTube Channel. Hoping to put some time in on this and get this completed by the end of the month.

3. Work your primary traffic source – build an audience – find your people. Learn everything you can about your primary traffic source and follow the algorithm. For me, TikTok is my focus! My goal over the next few weeks is to consistently post great content on TikTok 3 times a day and engage for at least 10 minutes around the time that I post. I bought some toys from TikTok, so once they arrive, I will record some unboxing review videos with the kittles playing with the toys. I should be at 1k followers by next week; at 1k, you can have a clickable link. I have built an Amazon storefront, and I will be adding it as my clickable link! Hopefully, I will shortly thereafter be into the TikTok affiliate program, which has short-term goals but still exciting ones.
