Happy Saturday!
If you have jumped on the TikTok bandwagon, you won’t want to miss this.
It is the simplest advice, but it is helping me to grow my channel…
I was stuck at 80 views for months and months, not understanding what I was doing wrong.
I was posting and ghosting… Yup, I would post a video and run out to work and not look at TikTok at all, but now I know that it is so important to engage.
Now, I dedicate at least 30 min a day to TikTok, actively listening to others, sharing their posts, commenting, liking, and following.
This is the simplest advice, yet it has made a huge difference in my channel’s growth.
But you can’t just scroll and hit the heart. That is not how TikTok wants you to engage.
TikTok Wants You To Engage “From the Bottom Up”
Important things to remember when engaging:
- Watch the Whole Video: Engage with content by commenting, sharing, and favoriting. If you repost too quickly, it won’t count. You can play it ad double speed by holding down the heart or pressing on the screen or hitting the arrow and choosing playback speed.
- Learn from Successful Creators: Observe what works for others in your niche. If you start seeing TikTok ads, engage! It’s a sign that TikTok is noticing you.
By connecting with others in your niche, sharing their content, and having them do the same for you, you can expand your reach. Your content gets in front of their audience, and both accounts benefit from it.
I have been practicing this all week, and I am happy to report that I now have 149 followers on my affiliate marketing account and 205 viewers on my BaxandBenny Account!
My aim is to grow my channel to 1k, then 5k, then 10k. These milestones unlock more opportunities that TikTok has to offer and allow you to maximize your passive income avenues.
We’re living in a time rich with online opportunities. Time to get an advantage and use these tools to grow your online business.
Additional Tips and Tricks for TikTok Growth
- Optimize Your Bio: Be clear about your niche, what you talk about, and how you can help your audience. A well-crafted bio can draw people in and help the algorithm know who to show your content to.
- Become an Expert: Focus on one platform to master it. Spend intentional time creating and engaging, treating it like a business.
- Interact with Others: Engaging with other creators will help you grow your own following. Don’t forget to respond to every comment that is left on your videos.
- Build Your Email List: Once you hit 1,000 followers, you will be allowed to put a clickable link in your bio. Use this opportunity to try and grow an email list. Offer a lead magnet that addresses your audience’s pain points. The real money is in your email follow-up, so don’t miss this important step.
- Post Regularly: Aim to publish at least every day, or even 2-3 times a day if you can.
- Continuous Improvement: Always strive to get better. Use drafts to help with batching content creation. I am super busy, and there are weeks when I don’t have time to create content, but I usually have at least one day a week I could create a bunch of content and have it lined up and ready to go. This will help you stay consistent!
- Go Live: Once you hit 1,000 followers, make it a point to go live regularly to connect with your audience. If you go live at the same time, your audience will know when and will start to hop on at that time, engage, and ask questions!
Additional Growth Tips
- Create Variations: Share multiple versions of the same content; only a fraction of your followers will see each post.
- Engaging Hooks: The first 3 seconds of your video are critical—make them captivating!
- Follow and Interact: Connect with larger creators in your niche and engage with their content.
- Utilize Trends: Leverage trending music and topics to boost visibility.
New Features to Try
On Wednesday, Sophie introduced us to two TikTok features I hadn’t used before: “Stitch” and “Duet.”
Duet and Stitch are features that allow you to react to or add to others’ videos, tapping into their audience while creating engaging content.
How to Duet
- Select the video you want to duet.
- Click the share arrow, then choose the duet option.
- Choose your position relative to the original video.
- Record your reaction or commentary, then edit as needed
How to Stitch
- Choose the video you want to stitch.
- Tap the share button and select “Stitch.”
- Pick a 5-second clip to start your reaction or commentary. You can use other’s content as your hook.
I made a quick video for you showcasing how to use them. Click here to watch!
While TikTok may not be for everyone, it presents a great opportunity to earn money. And it doesn’t cost anything to get started! So, no excuses. It’s time to get started!
Get Started!
Don’t say you don’t have time to change your life! If you want something badly enough, you’ll find a way. Remember, success won’t fall into your lap; you have to go out there and grab it! You’ve got this!

Great post! I appreciate all the details you shared from that meeting. I was listening but lying down with a migraine so I couldn’t take notes. I’ll still listen to the recording when I have a chance but you made it easier with your detailed capture of the meeting. Thanks again!

This is so valuable!! I will bookmark for future reference. Everyone on our blog hop shares wonderful insights, tips and ideas and as we grow in our businesses, the blog posts get more layered in their content! You, for instance, didn’t give up when you had to take a full time job. That is called resilience, my friend. As Atif says, keep going!! Those words provide comfort for me!![My Profile](https://rookietorichesride.com/wp-content/plugins/commentluv/images/littleheartplus.png)

Hi Alison,
Thanks for sharing your experience! I completely relate to how engaging with others has boosted my TikTok journey. After realizing that simply posting and disappearing wasn’t effective, I now dedicate about 10-15 minutes each morning and night to connect with my audience and fellow creators. Since I started this routine, I’ve noticed an increase in my followers!
Your tips on using Duet and Stitch are great, I haven’t tried those features yet but will need to soon! Have you gone live yet? I’d love to hear about your experience. Let’s keep supporting each other on this journey to success!

Hi Alison,
Great post and more importantly, great information that I can use! Looking forward to take all of this great information and make my Tik Tok videos more engaging!
Thank you!
Hi Alison – I am bookmarking this blog post as there is a ton of information that I will find useful and a ton of reminders of things that I already know that I don’t do. If I am honest, I have not posted on TikTok in such a long time not out of laziness but out of frustration. I need to get past that and this blog post is certainly encouraging that it is possible. I would often think “what does the world want to hear from me? I’m not an influencer and I’m certainly not an expert in everything so why would people want to hear what I have to say?” That is, as my grandfather would say, hogwash! I do have something to say and I need to get used to using TikTok and other forms of social media that I’m not as comfortable with in order to keep up. Thank you for this extremely informative post!![My Profile](https://rookietorichesride.com/wp-content/plugins/commentluv/images/littleheartplus.png)

I was stuck in the same boat for ages too—just posting and hoping for the best. But once I started engaging with others, things really started to change. It’s amazing how such a small shift can make such a big difference! Congrats on your growth—keep going!

I was doing the same thing, only liking and moving on to the next video. I know now that I need to engage more. I have been wondering how to accomplish the “Duet” in TikTok. Thanks for sharing this.

Hi Alison,
Have to say that you are getting to be one “go to” person when it comes to Tik Tok. Happy to read and reread everything you mention about it.
One big thing many may find hard to do but definitely helps is to keep a focus on one platform and become proficient at it and then – only then – add another.
Thanks again for your tips & tricks! They are definitely worth a pound in gold!
